It all began when Anne & Graham Colbourne met Joshua Odupoi, who was a guide at Little Governor’s Camp in the Maasai Mara. Over several years getting to know Joshua they realised that the children of his small village, and many villages like his, have little opportunity for sponsored education as these smaller communities are often off the radar of the bigger charities.
Joshua lives in the region of Loitokitok located in southeast Kenya, near the border with Tanzania. Loitokitok lies within the foothills and in full view of Mount Kilimanjaro. This small town is approximately 160 miles by road to Nairobi.
Joshua is helpful and reliable and now assists in identifying children who would benefit from Assist2Educate sponsorship. Joshua arranges entry to the most appropriate school. The Charity then arranges payment for school fees direct to the school.
Although our main focus is arranging sponsorship we have also identified needs within the schools that facilitates the children’s education. As part of the sponsorship Assist2Educate provides books, stationary and school uniforms. We have also gifted mosquito nets and solar lanterns to our sponsored students.
